Introducing the Eger Wine Workshop

The direction they envisioned was to develop their wine ranges, to finetune the existing brands and to establish standards for the highest wine category. In practical terms this meant improving the image of Egri Bikavér, strengthening the market presence of Egri Csillag, redefining Szépasszony-völgy, creating and introducing a special Eger bottle and making the wine region more attractive to younger customers.

This is what György Lőrincz, winemaker of St. Andrea Winery and founding member of the association had to say about their joint efforts: "It's a great experience to discuss crucial matters with enthusiastic colleagues. I'm happy for them and I sincerely hope that the love experienced at the workshops shall emanate and spread throughout the whole wine region and with belief in our truly worthy goals we can fulfil our responsibilities and show the way forward for the coming generations as well."

It marked an important milestone in the life of the organization when in 2018 it became an officially recognized association and regular communication with the wine trade and the wider public has begun. Under the name Egri Bor Most ('Eger Wine Now') social media sites were set up, and there were presentations held in Eger and Budapest on the subjects of Egri Csillag, Egri Bikavér and single-vineyard Eger wines to audiencies made up of sommeliers, wine trade representatives and journalists. Eger Wine Workshop was first introduced to the public in February 2019 at the Viticulture and Oenology Conference held in Eger.
